Out of respect for the poor, picked-on and marginalized Christian majority in our country, I will not be giving holiday gifts this year. Instead, let me introduce you to my growing collection of hand knit Christmas gifts.
For niece Katie, a pair of fingerless gloves knit from something found in my sizeable stash of yarn brought back from Norway.
The back and palm of Northern Lights mittens for niece Ashley, knit with exquisite Peruvian wool on size 1 circulars. The pattern, materials and inspiration come directly from KnitPicks most recent catalog. One mitten down, one to go.
And, for my very serious fourteen year old nephew, Stanley, a very serious seamans-style watchcap in black Paton's Classic Merino wool. Serious warmth. Serious durability.
More from the busy fingers of Mrs. Claus . . . GIANT slippers for nephew Aaron, and a more diminutive version for niece Anna.
and - finished the second Northern Lights mitten, pictured here inside-out 'cause I know that's the side you REALLY want to see.
Still a few ends to weave in . . .
